The Palio of Siena:
historic parade and race.
Postponed for rain on the previous two days, the Assumption Palio finally takes place in Piazza del Campo. After the historic parade, the contrade members, jockeys and horses gather for the most eagerly awaited moment: the start. Tittia wins aboard Anda e Bola for the Nicchio district. After crossing the finish line, horse and jockey collide with celebrating spectators who have entered the track. Tittia is thrown from the saddle and taken to hospital.
